<p>A quick connector (10) formed of a housing having a through bore (22) receiving one end (32) of a male connector (16) with a radially enlarged flange (30). At least one and preferably a plurality of circumferentially spaced retainer fingers (40) are integrally formed as a one piece extension from the first end (18) of the housing and are deployable from a first axially extending position to an angular inwardly extending position in the bore (22) in the housing to engage the flange (30) on the male connector (16) after the male connector (16) has been inserted into the bore (22) in the housing to lockingly couple the male connector (16) in the housing. In a connector (130) having a metal housing, a plurality of circumferentially spaced fingers (136) are formed to axially extend from a first open end. The fingers (136) are bent into an angular, inwardly extending position to engage the flange (30) on the male connector (16). In another embodiment for use with a metal quick connector housing (102), a molded annular band (110) has a plurality of circumferentially spaced fingers (112) extending therefrom. The band (110) is mounted within the bore (22) in the housing adjacent an in-turned end (104) of the housing, with the fingers (112) deployable from a first axially extending position to an angular inwardly extending latching position.</p> |
