A multi-nozzle binary CIJ printhead has a series of charge electrodes (6) for applying charge to droplets formed in the jets (50) issuing from the nozzles. A single deflection electrode (70) is arranged to cause charged droplets to be attracted towards the deflection electrode by means of the image charge force mechanism. The deflection electrode (70) has a first portion (71) nearer the charge electrodes (6) and disposed at a first angle relative to the jets (50), and a second portion (72) further from the charge electrodes (6) and disposed at a greater angle relative to the jets (50) than the first portion (71).
