The present invention relates to a basket for the storage of articles, preferably a dish-ware basket (16; 16'; 16") for a dish-washing machine, said dish-ware basket (16; 16'; 16") comprising a bottom portion (17; 17'; 17") and at least two side pieces (16, 26; 18', 36'; 18", 36"). Prior art dish-ware baskets are manufactured by means of advanced equipment, wherein wires of predetermined length are being fed in accordance with a certain pattern and then welded to form a wire netting which, by means of a number of additional working steps, is formed into a dish-ware basket. Of the working steps required to make a dish-ware basket according to prior art technique about 30 % is concerned with the manufacture of the wire-netting constituting the blank for the dish-ware basket. The present invention is based on the idea of using expanded metal as the blank for a dish-ware basket (16; 16'; 16"), said expanded metal being shaped/bent into the final shape of the dish-ware basket (16; 16'; 16").
