The heat exchanger comprises heat-conductive walls through which liquid coolant and oil or another liquid to be cooled are directed in layers separated by the walls. The heat exchanger has an adaptor plate (1) containing connecting passages (21-27) between inlet and outlet drillings. The plate is closed by a cover plate (6) having a common union (13) for the coolant, a connecting passage (23,24) and an opening (31,32) for the onward passage of the coolant, also two further unions (7,8) for the feed and discharge of the medium to be cooled to adjacent exchangers (2,5) connected to the common union (13). The adaptor plate can be closed on the underside and closed on only one side by the cover plate. The exchangers can be connected in parallel, their coolant outlets being connected by the passage (27) to a common outlet union.
