Timer for household electrical appliances with a built-in protection system against current peaks. Based on a conventional structure in which an electric micromotor 2, acts via suitable transmissions upon a mains supply switch 6 for all the household electrical appliances, and upon their power circuit 10 supply switch 12, for example the magnetron of a microwave oven, the invention is centred on fitting a resistor 11 in parallel with this power circuit 10, assisted by its own switch 13, these switches 12 and 13 being acted upon by a double lever with off-set operating faces, which first acts upon the switch 13 and then immediately after on the switch 12, which assumes that the resistor 11 absorbs the current peaks generated in the closure of the circuit and that, when the switch 12 corresponding to the power circuit 10 closes, the nominal current circulates through this. <IMAGE>
