The "Improved cartridge for firearms with aerodynamic projectile" patent refers to the fact that, by giving any fire arm projectile less air resistance, we will obtain greater range and greater penetration capacity with the same charge of powder and the same recoil. Projectile manufacturers have always thought that this aerodynamic effect is in the front part of the projectile and in its smooth, uniform profile, attaching no significance whatsoever to the rear part of the projectile, always making this straight or concave. However, by making the rear part sharply pointed or curved, we reduce the lack of pressure created by the projectile at its rear part as it displaces the air as it advances, which creates a slight suction which draws the projectile in the opposite direction. It is also possible to give this projectile surface grooves in order further to reduce air resistance, these grooves being similar to those possessed by whales in the lower part of their body or in trapezoidal form. Scoring (rifling) of the projectile for use in guns may end at the tip in order better to suit the restrictions of the muzzle and also to be more aerodynamic. <IMAGE>
