Compounds of formula (I) are new: R1-R4 = H, halogen, OH, 1-25C alkyl, 2-25C alkyl containing O, S or =N-R<7> in the chain, 2-24C alkenyl, 7-9C phenylalkyl, phenyl (optionally substituted with 1-4C alkyl), 5-12C cycloalkyl, 5-12C cycloalkenyl (optionally substituted with 1-4C alkyl), 1-18C alkoxy, 2-24C alkenyloxy, 1-18C alkylthio, 1-4C alkylamino, di(1-4C alkyl)amino, 1-25C alkanoyloxy, 1-25C alkanoylamino, 3-25C alkenoyloxy, 3-25C alkanoyloxy containing O, S or =N-R<7> in the chain, 5-9C cycloalkylcarbonyloxy or benzoyloxy (optionally substituted with 1-12C alkyl), or R1/R2, R2/R3 or R3/R4 may combine with the C atoms to which they are bonded to form a benzene ring, and R3 may also be -(CH2)m-COR8 or -(CH2)nOR9, or if R2 and R4 are both H then R3 may also be a group of formula (IIa)-(IIc) ; R5, R6 = H, 1-25C alkyl, 2-25C alkyl containing O, S or =N-R<7> in the chain, 7-9C phenylalkyl, phenyl (optionally substituted with 1-4C alkyl) or 5-12C cycloalkyl (optionally substituted with 1-4C alkyl), or R5 and R6 may combine with the C atoms to which they are bonded to form 5-12C cycloalkenylene or 4-11C cycloalkenylene containing O, S or =N-R<7> in the ring, whose rings may be substituted with 1-4C alkyl, 5-12C cycloalkyl (optionally substituted with 1-4C alkyl) or phenyl(ene) (optionally substituted with 1-4C alkyl); R7 = H, 1-8C alkyl, 1-8C alkoxy, 1-8C alkanoyl or benzoyl (optionally substituted with 1-4C alkyl); R<8> = OH, 1-18C alkoxy or a group of formulaÄ-O<->1/rM(power)+Ü or -NR12R13; R9 = H, 1-8C alkanoyl or benzoyl (optionally substituted with 1-4C alkyl) ; R10, R11 = H, CF3, 1-12C alkyl, phenyl (optionally substituted with 1-4C alkyl) or -(CH2)s-COR14 , or R10 and R11 can combine with the C atoms to which they are bonded to form a 5-12C cycloalkylidene ring optionally substituted with 1-3C or 1-4C alkyl groups ; R12, R13 = H or 1-18C alkyl ; R14 = OH, 1-18C alkoxy or a group of formula -NR12R13; M = r-valent metal ; m = 0-2 ; n = 1-6 ; r = 1-3 ; and s = 0-1. The following are also claimed : (i) formulations comprising (A) at least one organic material subjected to oxidative, thermal or light-induced degradation and (B) at least one compound of formula (I) ; (ii) the use of (I) as stabilisers for organic materials against oxidative, thermal or light-induced degradation ; (iii) a method for stabilising an organic material against oxidative, thermal or light-induced degradation by incorporating or applying at least one compound of formula (I) ; (iv) the preparation of (I) by reacting a compound of formula (III) with phosphorous trichloride to form a compound of formula (IV) and then hydrolysing (IV) with water without first of all isolating (IV) ; and (v) compounds of formula (III) and (IV). |
