A syringe pump (10) comprising a syringe pump wall (157) and a syringe clamp assembly for clamping a syringe to the wall (157), said syringe clamp assembly comprising: a moveable clamping means (128) for clamping the syringe to the wall (157); clamp biasing spring (136) for biasing the clamping means (128) towards the wall (157) wherein the clamp biasing spring (136) exerts a force on the clamping means (128) towards the wall (157); locking toothed member (130) for releasably locking the clamping means (128) so that when the toothed member (130) is locked, the syringe is clamped between the clamping means (128) and the wall (157); control knob (26) for moving the toothed member (130) from a released position in which the clamping means (128) is loosely biased towards the wall (157) by the clamp biasing spring (136), to a locked position in which the clamping means (128) is locked and firmly holds the syringe against the wall (157).
