摘要 <p>Digital high-definition picture and high-fidelity sound data recorded in sync blocks are reproduced from a tape deck 800. On playback, an ID corrector 714 judges whether any of the block IDs are damaged (eg by random or burst error) and generates corrected IDs to replace damaged IDs. A Reed-Solomon decoder 716 carries out inner and outer decoding on the blocks to generate error position and error magnitude information relating to each of the blocks for storage in an error information register 717. A data controller 705 judges whether or not a playback stop signal is enabled. If not, error-free and corrected sync block data is transmitted to a television receiver via a set-top box 17. An enormous quantity of computation which cannot be processed by programs, is performed in real time by an optimal data flow operation process and the compressed or processed digital data is processed at a high speed. Also, a hardware configuration of the codec which conventionally includes two or three pieces of circuit board is implemented on one custom-made semiconductor chip and cuts a unit cost of the manufacturing of the codec.</p>
