The regulator is designed for the adjustment of powertransformer voltage under load and guarantees protection inemergency cases. It has a special device which within theprotection breaker cycle can cut out the damaged contact systemand restore the electrical supply and as a result of this the userpower losses become minimum. The contact system of the regulatoris mobile and connected, on one hand with insulation rods of thereciprocating motion mechanism, and on the other hand - byseparable contact plug units - to the fixed contact elementsinsulation-type mounted on an insulation bottom. A knife contactsystem is mounted there which is open when the plug contact unitsare on and is closed when they are off. The reciprocating motionmechanism can be hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, electromagneticor of a mixed type. In one alternative the stepping regulator ismounted on the side of the transformer tank, the insulation bottombeing fitted to its wall. The contact system in housed in a metalvessel filled with oil and divided by an insulation barrier to thespace of the system and a mechanism for the reciprocating motion, and space of the plug-type contact connection and the knifecontact system. In case of emergency in the contact system duringthe current-less pause of the cyle of the protection breaker, thereciprocating motion mechanism withraws the contact system to asafe insulation distance, the knife contact system closes and thetransformer is connected to operate in one position. The contactsystem can be taken out, repaired and put back again. In anotheralternative the contact system is a three-phase power switchgearfitted in an insulation cylinder submerged in the oil space of thetransformer. The plug-type contact connections and a three-phaseknife-type contact system are mounted on the insulation bottom. Onits upper side the power switch is connected to the insulationrods of the reciprocating motion mechanism which is mounted to thesupporting head of the stepping regulator. In case of emergencythe actuation of the protection is analogical to that of the firstalternative.
|
