摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily regenerate a catalyst deteriorated in activity by allowing the catalyst deteriorated in activity to contact with a water/phenol mixed liq. in a regeneration of the catalyst for producing a bisphenol A consisting of a strongly acidic ion exchange resin and deteriorated in activity. SOLUTION: An unmodified sulfonic acid type cation exchange resin having 65wt.% water content, for example, is packed in a reactor 1 for producing the bisphenol A to form an unmodified resin packed layer 2. Then valves 5 and 6 are opened to circulate the phenol via a line 4, and the phenol is brought into contact with the unmodified resin while discharging from the line 3 to substitute the water in the resin with the phenol. Then a phenol soln. of 2- mercaptethylamine having 3wt.% concn. is introduced via the line 3 and the valve 5, and after circulating in the packed layer 2, and after closing the valve 5 and left standing the packed layer 2 for about 60min, the valve 5 is opened, and the soln. in the reactor 1 is removed, and the regeneration of strongly acidic ion exchange resin being the catalyst for producing the bisphenol A is finished.
