This invention relates to explosives. More particularly it relates to a method o f blasting and to a mobile manufacturing unit loading station suitable for use in the metho d. It also relates to a method of constructing a mobile manufacturing unit loading station. The method includes the steps of transporting the constituents of an explosive separ ately in preloaded bulk storage containers to a mobile manufacturing unit loading station positioned at or in close proximity to a blasting site; loading the constituents into separate compartments of the mobile manufacturing unit with at least one of the constituents being loaded into the associated compartment under the influence of gravity; and mixing the constituents and using the explosive so formed at the blast site. An improved blasting method with increased safety is achieved.
