PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To conveniently prevent the oxidation of the metal of a structure in the atmosphere at a low cost by using a wire or strip galvanic corrosion preventive electrode and arranging the electrode so that the coated surface of an object to be protected from corrosion is covered by the area to be protected from corrosion. SOLUTION: The surface of an object 3 to be protected from corrosion is coated, and an electrode 1' is mounted thereon through an insulator. A rectangular or circular-sectioned strip electrode is used as the electrode. The positive electrode of a corrosion preventive power source 2 is connected to the electrode 1', and the negative electrode of the power source 2 and the object 3 are grounded. Accordingly, since the electrode also acts as a conductor, the electrode area is increased, the area to be protected from corrosion is expanded, and the elecrode is easily arranged. Further, as the strip electrode is set along the object surface, the adhesion of the electrode to the structure is increased, and the electrode is not stripped or the conductor is not broken. Since the protective current density is sufficiently low, i.e., 0.05 to 1μA/m<2> , overprotectiveness control is not needed. |
