PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively and readily obtain the subject compound by reacting a cyclic anhydride with anα,ω-aminoalkycarboxylic acid directly at one stage. SOLUTION: A compound of formula I (R<1> and R<2> are each H, a halogen, a 1-4C alkyl, etc.; R<3> and R<4> mutually form a double bond, a norbornene ring, a benzene ring, etc.) is dehydrated/imidated with 0.8-1.2mol of a compound of the formula H2 N-A-COOH A is CH2 -[CR<5> R<6> ]n (R<5> and R<6> are each H, an alkyl, etc.; (n) is 0-16)} in an aliphatic carboxylic acid heated its reflux temperature (100-200 deg.C) to give a compound of formula II. The compound is a monomer for producing an acid functional polymer and useful as a starting raw material for preparing an active ingredient of a preparation of bioconjugate.
