PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the color reproducibility of an image forming material having a photosensitive resin layer and a protective layer on a base, to prevent the deterioration of image reproducibility by gaseous N2 bubbles at the time of exposure and to improve the preservability of this material. SOLUTION: The gas permeability (JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards) K 7126) of the protective layer to the coating solvent vapor of the photosensitive layer of the image forming material formed by coating the surface of the base with a coloring agentcontg. photosensitive layer and the protective layer in this order is >=500cc/m<2> 24hratm. The protective layer of the image forming material formed by providing the surface of the base having a cushion property with the photosensitive layer contg. the coloring agents and an o-quinonediazide compd. and the protective layer in this order contains inorg. amorphous particles and org. spherical particles having the gaseous N2 permeability (JIS K 7126) of >=500cc/m<2> 24hratm and an average grain size larger than the film thickness at a weight ratio of 4:6 to 6:4.
