PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to form a high quality image by operating the mean deviation value based on the detection result of the deviation value from a deviation value detection means provided on the start end side and the terminal end side in a main scan direction and correcting a scan position in the scan direction based on the operated deviation value. SOLUTION: Scan start points of laser beams L1, L2 deflected by a polygon mirror 3 are detected by an index sensor 6 arranged on a tip side of the scan area, and the scan end points are detected by the index sensor 7 arranged on the end side of the scan area. Thus, the deviation values of both end sides of an image recording area are detected, and averaging operation is performed based on this detection result, and by detecting the optimum deviation values of the scan positions of plural laser beams, the deviation value of the image recording area is detected precisely. By correcting the scan positions of plural laser beams based on this detection result, an image forming device capable of forming a high picture quality image is provided.
