PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium equipped with digital magnetic information based on a specific modulation system with extremely high security owing to be substantially disable from re-writing or eliminating the digital magnetic information and further to provide the magnetic recording medium to cope with highly identifying the magnetic information, in which the magnetic information can be changed every card, and the many kinds small quantities of magnetic cards can be very easily manufactured. SOLUTION: This magnetic recording medium is provided with a substrate 10 and a magnetic layer 20 formed on the substrate 10. The magnetic layer 20 is provided with plural magnetic recessed and projecting part serrieda arranted scanning direction of a magnetic head and the magnetic recessed and a projection parts form digital magnetic information. A magnetic recessed part 21 or a magnetic projection part with a change of a difference in level is made to be present within one but width as 'one basic data value' and a flat part 25 without any change of the difference in level is made to be present within one but width as 'on other basic data value'.
