PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable guidance while including really visible feature objects by containing voice guidance in the information of feature objects extracted from the image picked-up result of on-vehicle camera. SOLUTION: First of all, the position of present vehicle is detected and next, it is judged whether that vehicle gets closer to a junction or not. When it gets closer to the junction, the approach to the junction is guide together with a branching direction. Next, images provided from cameras 20a and 20b are recognized by a recognition part 24, the presence/absence of feature object existence is detected based on the result, and it is discriminated whether any feature object exists or not. When any feature object exists, based on the images from two cameras 20a and 20b, the distance to that feature object and its direction are measured by a position relation measuring part 26 and based on the measured distance and direction, whether it is a feature object existent at a crossing or not is discriminated. In case of feature object on the junction as a result of this discrimination, guidance is performed while using that feature object. Namely, in case of destination guide symbol, voice guidance is performed while using the destination guiding symbol on that stage. |
