PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound useful as a synthetic intermediate for a compound having bactericidal and fungicidal activities by the rearrangement of an O-hydroxyethyl-O'-alkyl-benzofurandione dioxime having a specific structure. SOLUTION: An O-hydroxyethyl-O'-alkyl-benzofurandione dioxime of formula I (A is an alkyl; R<1> to R<4> are each independently H, a halogen, cyano, nitro, an alkyl, etc.; Z<1> to Z<4> are each independently H, an alkyl, a halogenoalkyl, etc.) is subjected t rearrangement reaction optionally in the presence of a diluent and a base or an acid to obtain a mixture of steric isomers. The mixture is isomerized optionally in the presence of a diluent and an acid to obtain the desired E-isomer of the compound of formula II. |
