PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To bring a drum to a high speed rotation within an intended vibration level by correcting unbalance in prescribed revolution and executing accelerating to the second revolution only at the time of detecting unbalance. SOLUTION: When operating a drum-type drying machine provided with a vibration detecting means 20 as an unbalance detecting means which detects an off-centered object to be processed in a drum 3 rotated by a motor 8, the drum 3 is rotated and accelerated with the rotation number N immediately before the processed object is stuck on the inner surface of the drum 3 as a target. When a prescribed time t1 elapses from rotation starting, the drum 3 is rotated and accelerated with the rotation number N2 being higher than N1 and lower than a resonance rotation number. Then, when t2 elapses after a rotating acceleration, the drum 3 is stopped once when the largeness of the output waveform of the vibration detecting means 20 is more than a reference valueα2 and unbalance correction for the reverse acceleration is executed. After that, rotation is changed-over into the drum forward one, the drum 3 is accelerated and high-speed rotation (dehydrating rotation) is executed.
