PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the efficiency of power transmission by traction drive. SOLUTION: A drive rotor 1 and a driven rotor 2 driven by rotation of the drive rotor 1 are arranged such that an electric field is generated therebetween and a distance therebetween is set to a value within a range of 0.01-1000μm. Traction drive fluid 4 containing insulating oil 8 and dielectric particles 7 dispersed in the insulating oil 8 is arranged between the drive rotor 1 and the driven rotor 2. By setting a distance between the drive rotor 1 and the driven rotor 2 to a low value, the high increase of electric viscosity of the dielectric particles 7 during application of an electric field is practicable and power transmission efficiency and transmission control efficiency are improved.
