PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set the characteristic of an equalizer in a short time by providing a multiplier calculating an equalizer gain set value so as to calculate the gain of the equalizer to be set from the set gain of former and later equalizer bands and a target equalizer gain. SOLUTION: An equalizer gain target value Gd (n) is inputted to the multiplier 101 to output equalizer gain set value G (n). The target value Gd (n) is multiplied with a proper coefficient by the multiplier 101 an outputted. However, (n) is the band number of the equalizer. The deciding method of the coefficient a (n) of the multiplier 101 decides a (n) to minimize the sum of the square of equalizer gain setting error in an expression G (n)=a(n)*Gd (n) to calculate the gain G (n) of the equalizer to set from Gd (n). Thereby the equalizer characteristic is set by small arithmetic quantity.
