PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a steel tray for food easy to recycle and excellent in corrosion resistance in place of plastics costed by transportation, recovery, incineration or the like by forming a surface treated layer on the surface of a steel sheet and moreover forming an organic resin layer thereon. SOLUTION: For forming a surface treated layer on the surface of a steel sheet, an ordinary plating method or coating shall be adopted. In this case, for securing good corrosison resistance, the surface treated layer contains one or two kinds among Cr, Sn, Ni, phosphoric acid and phosphate, and its coating weight is regulated to 10 to 5600mg/m<2> . An organic resin layer applied to the upper layer of the surface treated layer has 5 to 250μm thickness and improves its corrosion resistance. This organic resin coating can be obtd. by applying a thermosetting type coating material of epoxy type or the like thereto and executing baking or by using a method of executing lamination by using a thermoplastic resin film of polyester resin or the like. It is possible that the organic resin coating is added with Cu or the like to impart antibacterial operation thereto.
