PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent offset toner from being transferred on a heating member side so as to unnecessitate a cleaning device with large capacitance by setting the pressing force of the heating member high in the case of fixing operation. low in the case of non-fixing, and keeping the pressing force high when abnormality occurs. SOLUTION: The pressing force of the heating member is set high in the case of the fixing operation, set low in the case of non-fixing operation, and kept high when the abnormality occurs. That is, press-contact between a fixing roller 51 and a pressing roller 52 is not released in the case of such abnormality of an image forming device as jamming occurrence in a fixing device 9. This control is performed by a CPU, so that the press-contact releasing of the roller 52 by turning a motor M and a pressing cam F4, which is conventionally performed, in the case of such abnormality as jamming occurrence is not performed. Consequently, even through a transfer paper S is interposed between the rollers 51 and 52, an unfixed toner image on the transfer paper S is fixed on the transfer paper S by heat and pressure by turning a knob F5, and the paper S is discharged between the rollers 51 and 52. |
