PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic metering system not relating to a communication medium used by consumers. SOLUTION: An ISDN automatic metering center 1 sends a text to a public base station 5 via a public ISDN 3 and the public base station 5 sends the text to an automatic metering PHS (personal handy phone system) terminal 11 through a radio channel. The automatic metering PHS terminal 11 installed in a gas metre 9 sends the text to the public base station 5 through a radio channel and the public base station 5 sends the text to the ISDN automatic metering center 1 via the pubic ISDN 3.
