An external compact fixer for the treatment of small bone fractures and in children comprising a pair of clamps (2, 3) for bone bolts (V), connected through ball articulations (5, 6) corresponding to a central body (4) that comprises at least a male member (7) and a female member (8) which are telescopically joined. A member (7) is made from a material which is highly transparent to X-rays, the other member (8) of a rigid material substantially radio-opaque that has walls of minimum thickness. Means against the rotation between the telescopic male member (7) and female member (8) are provided; transversal eccentric pins (34, 35) are placed in each clamp to act on the corresponding closure blocks (28, 29) which immobilize the articulation balls (24, 25). A tension device (36) applicable to the fixer (1) comprising hook formations (49, 50) which can be coupled to the telescopic member ends (7, 8) and are jointed to the ends of the threaded bars (43, 44) found screwed in the threaded portions of a revolving sleeve (37). The fixer permits the complete examination through X-rays of a fracture even through the central body and is light and small as a result of the disposition of the block means for the articulations within the clamps.
