A method of using a hot melt polyamide blend as a bookbinding adhesive comprising the steps of a) applying a film of hot melt polyamide blend to the backbone of a book block wherein the hot melt polyamide blend comprises from about 20 percent to about 100 percent by weight of at least one polyamide; and from about 0 percent to about 60 percent by weight of a compatible copolymer, and from about 0 percent to about 40 percent by weight of a compatible tackifying resin selected from the group consisting of rosins and rosin derivatives; and terpenes and modified terpenes; and aliphatic and cycloaliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbon resins and by hydrogenated derivatives; and mixtures thereof; and b) covering said book block having said film of polyamide blend with a book cover said book block and book cover in substantially parallel relation to one another.
