Television monitors in public places need to be mounted high enough to avoid vandalism and to provide an adequate field of view. Site access is frequently restricted. The demountable post (2) is attached to a base plate which adjusts to provide a level support. A powered winch assembly (5) is mounted on a platform which carries the means of gripping the load, and is suspended from the horizontal arm (4). The winch has a remote control (10) and can move itself and the arm with its load up and down by winding in or releasing the cable which passes over pulleys which are supported by a spreader on the horizontal arm. Swivels allow the load to be accurately placed for installation.
