PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly calibrate the use of a long sound symbol '-' or a minus symbol '-', or to detect the uniformity of the full size/half size of a character string constituted of KATAKANA (square form of Japanese syllabary) or alphabetic characters without preliminarily registering words to be calibrated in a dictionary for calibration. SOLUTION: A character just before a long sound symbol or a minus symbol is referred to, and whether or not it is in KATAKANA, and whether or not the kind of the character matches in respect to the full size/half size are judged. When the long sound symbol or the minus symbol does not match the character just before it in respect to the full size/half size (steps S320 and 325), or when the character before the long sound symbol is not the in KANA (syllabary) before the minus symbol it is in KANA (steps S340 and 345), the combination of characters is judged to be inappropriate, and it is defined as the object of calibration (steps S350 and 355). Also, a character string constituted only of KATAKANA or a character string constituted only of alphanumeric characters is segmented, and when a character string obtained by full size/half size converting the character string is already used, this is detected as the case where the usage is mismatched. |
