摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the generation of a display defect (the generation of a white contour) caused by positioning deviation by applying an AC voltage to an electrically conductive layer so that the liquid crystal, which is held between transparent common electrodes, performs a black level display. SOLUTION: The reflection type active matrix liquid crystal panel consists of a glass substrate 10 which becomes the substrate of an incident side, a glass substrate 20 which is the substrate of a reflection side, TN liquid crystal 30 which is sealed in between these substrates and a seal material 31. If the panel is assembled into a projection type display device, a positive display is performed, i.e., the portion, to which a voltage is applied, becomes black. Therefore, if an AC voltage is applied to a clearance electrode 28 which is formed to surround the pixel region in an pixel electrode 21, that portion becomes a black level display and a black frame display having the same function of a clearance is obtained without forming a light shielding member on the substrate 10. Thus, the precision in positioning with respect to the pixel region is improved.
