The valve block's (18) upper chamber holds a thermal sensor controlling the lower chamber's variable valve. Each chamber is entered (e.g. 16,14) from opposite sides of the block by tube connections from the evaporator, compressor and condenser. Each tube has a beaded end bedding on a recessed seat, sealing the entry, and is clamped, e.g. by a cast alloy plate (50,52). The plate's end ring (56,58), passed over the tube, bears on the end bead. The joint is secured by a screw (62,74) entering the block (18) through a hole (64,76) in the plate end. Optionally, the ring is replaced by an open semi-circular fork. Optionally, also, an H-shaped plate clamps both entries on the same side. |
