PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply control system for the portable radio equipment that is operated again, even without provision of a battery for a replacement purpose or a charger through the application of power supply to the system again by interrupting the power supply of the portable radio equipment before the capacity of the battery by a prescribed residual capacity is not lost and to provide the power supply control method. SOLUTION: A system is made up of a voltage detection section 1 that detects a voltage of a battery 2 for providing an output of battery voltage information 11, a storage section 5 that stores sets of voltage information 51, 52 denoting voltage information when the residual capacity of the battery is almost lost, a key entry detection section 4 that detects the presence of key entry and provides an output of key entry information 41, an arithmetic processing section 3 that reads the voltage information 51 or the voltage information 52 higher in its voltage than that of the voltage information 51 and that provides an output of a switch control signal 31, based on the result of comparison between the read voltage information and the battery voltage information 11, and a switch 8 that is closed/open to supply/interrupt battery power to a main circuit 7, based on the switch control signal 31. A problem that the radio equipment is not available because the battery residual capacity is lost is avoided, when the user desires to use the radio equipment, in which case the portable equipment is easily used by the user and made convenient for the user.
