PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate an operation lag of an engaging element, or the unstableness of a hydraulic pressure value, or the lowering of hydraulic responsiveness, etc., to ensure stable shift quality, by providing a controlling means for temporarily applying hydraulic pressure to an engaging element in an unengaged condition out of plural engaging elements, and exhausting air in a circuit. SOLUTION: An A/T control unit is incorporated with a shift control program and also a circuit air exhaust control program for exhausting air in an hydraulic pressure circuit by temporarily applying hydraulic pressure to an engaging element in an unengaged condition out of plural hydraulic pressure engaging elements. Control is to be started on detecting an N-D selection to judge whether satisfying or not a vehicle stop condition where: a brake = ON, a vehicle speed Vsp=0km/h, and a throttle opening TH=0/8(S60). When satisfied, a second - fourth speed gear position G2 is to be set during from a first speed gear position G1 to a momentary time t1 , and charge control is executed wherein this operation is continuously repeated at every constant time t2 (S61). |
