PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow operation to a safety side even when an excessive surge current, an excessive circuit voltage is impressed, by providing a specific number of narrow width parts on the lead-out parts of an electrode board to be bound to an electrode so as to specify the width of the narrow width part. SOLUTION: Varistor elements 7a, 7b in the shape of a square board are formed on the in-and-out sides of a varistor element 6 by baking of a silver paste or the lie so as to bind the electrode boards 9a, 9b to become external terminals with the electrodes 7a, 7b by junction materials 8a, 8b. Then, one or more of narrow width parts 10a, 10b are formed on the lead-out parts of the electrode boards 9a, 9b to be joined with the electrodes 7a, 7b. The width of the narrow width parts 10a, 10b of the electrode plates 9a, 9b is set within the limits of 0.1 to 0.6mm. Thereby, in the case when an excessive surge current, an excessive circuit voltage, is impressed, the narrow width part is fused, thus allowing operation to the safety side. |
