PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce dispersion in white balance due to dispersion in characteristics of input signal versus display luminance of a plasma display panel(PDP) through the proper selection of a gamma correction curve. SOLUTION: Video signals R, G, B from terminals 1R, 1G, 1B are given to an A/D converter section 2, in which the signals are digitally converted, the result is gamma-corrected by a gamma correction section 3 by a gamma correction curve read from a gamma correction curve memory section 4, a PDP drive section 5 generates a signal to drive a PDP 6 and a video image is displayed on the PDP 6. In the adjustment of the white balance, the video signal for white balance differential amplifier circuit is received, a display color of the PDP is measured, the result of measurement is referenced and a gamma correction curve taking a white balance is set by a setting section 7 and a gamma correction curve set by a gamma correction curve memory section is read via a control section 9 and given to the gamma correction section and a video signal from the A/D converter section is gamma-corrected. |
