<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the transfer method of an RM(resource management) cell in a multipoint-to-point-type ATM connection on rate control between end terminals, which is the congestion control of an ABR(available bit rate) service class. SOLUTION: When a forward RM cell 20 reaches an ATM exchange 12, positioned in the converged point of the multipoint-to-point-type ATM connection, a special flag showing the arrival of the flowered RM cell 20 is raised, or a special counter is set. For using the flag, a backward RM cell is copied/ transferred to all upstream connections, where the flags are raised when the backward RM cell reaches from a converged destination, and the flags are lowered. When the counter is used, the counters are provided for the respective upstream connection and are increased by one wherever the forward RM cell 20 reaches, and it is reduced by one wherever a backward RM cell reaches. The transfer destination of the backward RM cell, arriving a the ATM exchange 12, is decided by rotation preferential control between the upstream connections whose counter values are not zero.</p> |
