The locking system (4) for the support (1) includes a vertical support (2) resting on the ground (5) and a mast (3) engaged so as to slide in the support (2). The mast (3) is designed to come into contact with a ceiling (6) at its upper end (31) and at its lower end (32) to come into contact with the locking system (4). The locking system (4) includes: - fixings (43) to fix the device (4) to the support (2) so that the upper end of the mast (3) is in contact with the ceiling (6) ; and - displacement means (45) to push the mast (3) towards the ceiling (6). The fixing system includes clamps (415,425) designed to grip a rib (14) fixed to the support (2), these clamps are actuated by a lever (431).
