The base's (1) central tube (11), welded to lower (12) and upper (13) annular discs, screws (16) on to, e.g. a grab or electromagnet. An upstand (15) carries horizontal stubs (18) entering alignment notches (28) in the bell skirt (25). The detachable top (2), within a protective bell (25), has a central tube (21), sliding over the base tube (11), which screws (27) onto a hanger (S) on e.g. a crane, conveyor, etc. Four load-bearing pins (3), supported by a disc (23) fixed on the central tube (21), penetrate elongated holes (17) in the upper base disc (13). A motor (4) then rotates them, through gearing (32,33), till their tips (31) lock under the hole edges (17). Separable contacts (6,7) within the upper tubes complete the grab's electrical circuits, rain covers (61) tipping up before engagement.
