PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size and thickness of a display device by providing both functions of a monitor and a finder through the use of one liquid crystal display part. SOLUTION: When a direct observation from a far position is made, the display device is used in a state where an eyepiece part consisting of a prism 9 and a convex lens 4 are removed. When the display device is used as an eyepiece type, the luminous flux of an image appearing on the screen 1a of a liquid crystal panel 1 enters from an incident plane 9a of the first surface of the prism 9 and is reflected by a deposited film made of silver, aluminum, etc., formed on a reflection plane 9b of a second surface forming a slope with respect to the optical axis of the incident luminous flux. Since the apex angleθ2 of the reflection plane 9b with the incident plane 9a is set smaller than 45 deg., the luminous flux reflected by the reflection plane 9b advances diagonally downward to the right of a reflection point and is totally reflected by the incident plane 9a and guided to the convex lens 4. The luminous flux is refracted by the convex lens 4, to form an image on the retina of the eye 5 of a user. By such a display device is used, the liquid crystal panel 1 can be used as the finder through the use of one screen.
