The circuit breaker includes an auxiliary contact (3) which is normally open and which closes when the breaker contact (2) opens due to a fault. The breaker contact is actuated by a trigger (4) which includes a processing circuit (5) with a microprocessor . A current sensor transmits signals to the processing circuit function of the current through the protected network. A fault indicating circuit (9) is supplied by a battery (10) and a circuit (7) with two diodes (D1,D2). The auxiliary contact is connected between the battery and the second diode (D2). This ensures that the fault indicating circuit is only supplied when a fault has occurred.
