A conveyor procedure for stacked foodstuffs on a mechanised processing line with a series of stations in sequence, consists of transporting the stacks from a first station to a second one in a stepped motion. While the stacks are being transported to the second station, a predetermined number of stacks accumulated at the first station is transferred to the stepped conveyor independently of the operation of the second station so that the operation of the latter can continue uninterrupted. The conveyor system used for the procedure incorporates a carriage (11) and an elevator platform for lifting, transporting and placing a stack (4i) on another part of the conveyor, which has an endless belt and drive motor.
