摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To constitute a pixel region having a high numerical aperture, by adding the function to act as the electrode, which forms a holding capacitance in a addition to the function to act as a light shielding film against a black matrix. SOLUTION: A titanium film is formed as a black matrix 316 over a second interlayer insulation film 315. A region 319, which is surrounded by dotted lines, in a pixel TFT functions as a holding capacitance. The capacity of the holding capacitance is made proportional to the dielectric constant of a third interlayer insulation film 317 and is inversely proportional to the thickness of the film. The holding capacitance is formed by all the regions, in which the matrix 316 including the region 319 and the edge portion of a pixel electrode 318 overlap. Computations are made to determine the size of the area, in which the matrix 316 and the electrode 318 overlap, the thickness of the film 317 and the dielectric constant and the holding capacity having a desired capacitance is designed. Thus, the need for a capacitance line is eliminated and a holding capacitance is formed employing the black matrix.
