The method uses a filling machine which has a funnel above a shut-off valve and fill chamber at the lower end of which is another shut-off valve. Inlets for air pressure are also provided. By alternating the shut-off valves and air pressure inlet, fillings are transferred to a bag below, which is then sealed. The lightweight goods (3) are loaded into a cylindrical chamber (4) when an upper valve (6) is opened and a lower valve (7) is closed. Plastic bag material (10) passes over former tube (8) and the bottom is sealed (13). When the upper valve is closed and the lower valve opened, a pressure wave of air is admitted through inlets (14,18) to fill the bag which is then sealed at the top and transported on a conveyor (25).
