The method involves scanning the master image through an optical arrangement using photosensitive components. There is a subsequent digitising, compressing, and storing of the produced image point values. A geometric, radiometric, or spectral resolution of the master image is acquired or determined in advance, and the resolution of the optical arrangement is adaptively adjusted to the resolution of the master image, so that it is scanned with at last double its own resolution. To predetermine the maximum geometric resolution of the image master. the autocorrection function of the grey value, or the spectral distribution, is detected with the spatial frequency threshold.
