<p>The structural component comprises a plastics core (2) enclosed between opposing cover layers (6, 7) via adhesive bonding layers, to form a one-piece structure. The core (2) incorporates an organic or inorganic fluorescent substance (12, 13) which is excited into fluorescence via radiation (14, 15) of given wavelength. The cover layer (6, 7) is opaque to this radiation (14, 15) or is coated with a material (17) which is opaque to this radiation (14, 15) in given regions. The cover layers (6, 7) extend over the opposing major surfaces of the core (2), with these peripheral edges (9) embedded in the core (2), the radiation (14, 15) received via the edge of the latter end with at least one window (18) incorporated in one of the cover layers (6, 7).</p> |
