In already known fuel injection valves, elements exposed to wear, such as armature and core, are coated with wear-resistant layers made for example of chromium, molybdenum or nickel. The disclosed valve has a core (2) with a wear-resistant layer (65') whose thickness (x) at least in the direct impact area (a, a') is greater than the thickness (y) of a layer (65) on the opposite armature (27). This valve is particularly suitable for fuel injection systems of mixture-compressing, spark ignited internal combustion engines.
