The method for measuring physical values at training and therapy appliances and a system for carrying out the method. A displacement/angle pick-up system records and computes the lifting movements of the weight plates in a therapy-training appliance. A displacement/angle pick-up system is provided, bases on the scanning of a rotary coding disc or a translatory coding strip. This operation is based on the establishment of a resistance alteration, or optical, magnetic, inductive, capacitive or other alterations.
