A rotary valve disc (18) is provided internally of a single continuous length of pipe (12), and is secured therein by a segmented pipe coupling (30 and 32), thus eliminating requirement for two independent pipes and separate seating for the valve disc (18), and permitting a reduction in the wall thickness of the pipe (12), particularly of pipes of plastics material.
