The rod guide (8) comprises several circumferentially distributed rolling bearings (9c) each enclosed by a plastics support ring (15c) on which the shift rod (6) is guided. The support ring has a concave contact face (17) whose radius of curvature corresponds to that of a sleeve face (16) of the shift rod. An outer ring of steel is enclosed by the plastics support ring. The outer ring and support ring have radially inwardly pointing edges and after pressing the outer ring into the support ring the edge of the support ring and the edge of the outer ring adjoin opposite end sides of the rolling bodies (14).
