Automatic method for cleansing measuring cells and capillaries used for determining surface tension

The method involves bombarding capillaries (1) and measuring cell (2) with ultrasound and at the same time with a rinsing gas or liquid during a fixed interval between measuring operations of the equipment. The gas may be air or an inert gas. The liquid may be water or the liquid being analysed. The capillary and cell are connected to ultrasound generators (13a,13b) and a rinsing gas source (12) with a valve control (11) to the capillary. The rinsing liquid source (15) leads directly to the cell. These are operated by the same controls as are used for the measuring process so that the equipment is operated and cleansed alternately, without any need for dismantling.
